TUBBS, Amy

Amy Tubbs, age 99, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2002. She was born in Jonah, Texas on November 24, 1903,to parents Rhoney and Letitia Honeycutt. She has lived in the Georgetown- Jonah community all her life and ranched there until the 1960s. Mrs. Tubbs worked for Guss Drug store in Georgetown for many years. She was a member of the Georgetown Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Tubbs in February 1955; son, Forest Lavoy Tubbs in February 1981; three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Tubbs is survived by her grandchildren, Robert Earl Tubbs and Gail Tubbs both of Elgin; great- grandchildren, Laura Tubbs of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin Tubbs of Pflugerville, Lindsay Tubbs of Elgin, and Dennis White of Pflugerville; great-great-grandchildren, Shelby Meredith of Yoakum, Texas and Reed Lavoy Tubbs of Pflugerville. The family will receive guests for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 22, 2002, at the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home of Georgetown. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2002, in the chapel of the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Interment will follow at Jonah Cemetery in Jonah, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Tubbs, Kevin Tubbs, Dennis White, Nathan Honeycutt, Keith Honeycutt, and Riley Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Gail Tubbs, Laura Tubbs, and Lindsay Tubbs. SMITH, Nelta Mae Simonton

Nelta Mae Simonton Smith was born May 5, 1928, to Henry L. Simonton and Jewell Bickley Simonton in Heidenheimer, Texas. She passed from this earth on June 10, 2013, in Georgetown, Texas. Nelta lived most of her life in the Circleville, Jonah, Weir, and Georgetown area. She married John E. Smith, Jr., on January 10, 1947, and their union lasted exactly 66½ years. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her 11 siblings. She is survived by her husband John; six children-Ron Smith and his wife Patty, Sandra Morena, Leigh Morello and her husband Tom, Sue Smith, Roger Smith, and Shelley Smith; five granddaughters-Amber, Jennifer (and husband Blake), Rachel, Claire, and Madeleine; one grandson, Brett; one great-granddaughter Taryn; and, many nieces and nephews. Connie Basey Roberts, age 59, of Georgetown, Texas, died Friday, November 15, 2002, in Austin. She was born August 8, 1943, in Austin, Texas, to Wayland and Joy Basey. She married John Roberts on May 19, 1975, in Austin. Surviving Connie is her husband of 27 years, John Roberts, of Georgetown; six daughters, Susan Crawford of Leander, Texas, Vera McKelvy and husband Mickey of Ft. Worth, Nancy Nipper and husband Richard of Longview, Carol Hughes and husband David of New Port, Maine, Karen Johnson of Savannah, Georgia, Janet Gonzales and husband James of Georgetown; two sons, Frank Homesley and John H. Roberts “Bubba”, both of Georgetown; father, Wayland Basey of Milsap, Texas; sister, Waylynn Mitchell and husband Danny of Milsap, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Joy Basey in 1991, and brother, John Wayland Basey, in 1939. Funeral Services for Connie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2002, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Texas.
