Maxine Devonne Whitehead passed away on September 26, 2012. Maxine was born on December 1, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Annie and Bruno Wilzin. Maxine graduated from Baylor University in 1939 where she was on the debate team. After graduating from college, she taught school in Woodville, Texas. After teaching, Maxine worked at the Texas Employment Commission where she met her husband, Louis Whitehead. Maxine is predeceased by her husband, Louis G. Whitehead and her sister, Julie Wilzin. She is survived by her children, Louis G. Whitehead, Jr. and Shelley Whitehead Robinson and her husband Jerry Sachs; granddaughter, Jennifer Whitehead and her husband Steven Lobato; and her great-grandson, Alexander Lobato. Maxine was a long time member of the Austin Women’s Golf League, winning numerous tournaments and trophies. She was also a sharp business woman for Whitehead Rentals and Real Estate. The family would like to thank Rhonda Hearns and Denise Castaneda for their compassionate care of Maxine in the last years of her life. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday October 4, 2012 at 10:00am at Cook-Walden Capital Parks, 14501 North IH 35 with visitation being held the hour prior. A private family burial will be held at the Whitehead Cemetery at Indian Mound Ranch in Liberty Hill, Texas. In lieu of flowers, play a round of golf in honor of Maxine!
