Nancy Mills Banigan (Chamberlin) formerly of Old Bridge, NJ, Pine Island, FL, and most recently Georgetown passed away on January 27, 2013.
Nancy was born on July 22, 1925 in Woonsocket, RI to Ralph and Florence (Malley) Chamberlin of Slatersville, RI.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James C. Banigan, Jr., also of Georgetown. Nancy is survived by her six sons, James III (Sheila), Michael (Nancy), Steven, Kevin, Mark (Krisha), Tim (Mickey), her 12 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Nancy was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who cherished family and home above all else. Nancy served in the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps during WWII. She graduated from The Newport Hospital School of Nursing where she earned a degree as a registered nurse in the State of Rhode Island in May 1947. She was also a registered nurse in New Jersey. Nancy had a long and rewarding career practicing as a nurse for all of her adult life.
Friends are invited to attend a Visitation with family members on January 31, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice. Graveside service will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown, immediately following the mass. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Covenant House, 460 W. 41st St., N.Y., N.Y. 10036.
