Former Florence Resident Dies (Battie Moore Walker)
Mrs. T. J. Cooper received word April 3, of the death of her longtime friend, Mrs. W. C. (Battie M) Walker, 87, which occured in a Brookings, South Dakota hospital on March 22.
Mrs. Walker, the last of her family, was born at Florence the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Moore.
The Moore and Love families were neighbors and friends at Florence for many, many years.
After her husband’s death, Mrs. Walker made her home with her nephew and niece, Prof. and Mrs. Joe Moore, who moved to Brookings nine months ago from Hartley County, Texas. Mr. Moore teaches in a college at Brookings
Funeral services were held at Hartley in the First Baptist Church and burial was in the Channing Cemetery beside her husband.
Survivors include a number of nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
