James Bennett Carter, age 77, of Georgetown, formerly of Austin, passed away on June 4, 2003 in Temple, Texas. Mr. Carter was born on March 26, 1926 in Los Angeles, Texas to James Allen and Myrtle Hargrove Carter. He married Bertha Eichinger on September 27, 1952 in Maysfield, Texas. Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Bertha Carter; and his children: sons, Stephen and his wife, Peggy of Tracy, California, James Allen II and his wife, Angela of Pflugerville, David M. and his wife, Melody of San Antonio; and daughter, Rebecca Clark and her husband, Bill of Haskell, Texas. He also leaves behind two sisters, Joyce Deglandon of Austin and Mardelle Arnold of Cureo, Texas; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Carter was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown. He served in the Army during WW II. Mr. Carter owned and operated a Dixie Cream Donut Shop in Georgetown from 1971 until 1978. He then began working for Mc Neil Pharmaceutical in the Manufacturing Division, retiring after twelve years. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N. IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. Services will be held on June 7, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, Texas with the Reverend Dan Wooldridge officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Beaukiss Cemetery in Beaukiss, Texas. Pallbearers will be members of Mr. Carters Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund at 2300 Williamson Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628.
