Richard Lee Davis, 59, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, June 22, 2007. Rick was born October 18, 1947, in Taylor to Georgetown residents, Jessie Earl and Tennie Edna Carlile Davis. He lived most of his life in the Georgetown area and graduated from GHS in 1966. As a youngster, he was baptized at First Baptist Church, on Main Street. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse Richard and Hassie Paul Davis and Dock and Edna Pope Carlile, one sister-in-law, and five brothers-in-law. As the youngest of eight children, Rick is survived by his siblings Renan Davis, Earline Ischy, Shirley Barker, Glenda (John) Yeatts, Chuck (Ruth) Davis, Nelda Everett, and Billy (Kathy) Davis, all of Georgetown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by his only surviving aunt, Geneva Carlile Johnson, of Bastrop. As a beloved Dad and Granddad, Rick is survived by his children, Roxane Davis, of Santa Monica, CA, Tennicia (Andrew) Jackson, of Leander, Richard, Steven, and Brandi Davis of Austin, and by his grandchildren, Luke Davis and Rylee Jackson, of Leander. Rick was a valued employee of only two employers during his adult life. He will be missed by the longtime friends he made at Artcarved Jewelers and Best Buy, Inc. He was a member of the Texas National Guard. Rick dearly loved to hunt and fish. Even in the late stages of lung cancer, he wanted to go fishing and to go out to Glasscock Valley to watch the deer. Words cannot express the appreciation the family feels for the tender care given to Rick by his niece, Charlotte Barker Bamsch. We would also like to thank Holly Kerbey, with Gentiva Home Health Care, and Bob McMurrer, with Hospice Austin, for their care and attention to Rick during the last weeks of his life. Honoring Rick as pallbearers are Robert Barker, Fred Ischy III, Jeffrey Bamsch, Randy Crum, Daniel Crum, David Salyer, J.C. Chambers and Darvin Bamsch. In lieu of floral contributions, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Austin. Visitation will be Monday, June 25, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. The graveside service will be Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., at Berry’s Creek Cemetery, with John Yeatts officiating.
