Weldon G. (Stoney) Friedrich, age 86, of Austin, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
He was born March 31, 1926 in the Kelso Community near Bartlett to Albert and Alma Friedrich. Weldon worked with the Austin Fire Department where he retired after 31 years of dedicated service.
During WW II, he worked in the B-24 plant North American. He was a member of St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church and a Mason for over 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Longhorn football and baseball games. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Tomecek and her husband, Bennie; and by his brother, Logan Friedrich.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Cox Vasek Friedrich; son, Thomas W. Friedrich and wife, Eleanora, son, Bernard Vasek, Jr.; daughter Linda Ashbee and husband, Raymond; grandson, Aaron Ashbee; and sister-in-law, Jane Friedrich.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
