LAMBERT, Simmon “Red”

Born May 13, 1932 in Houston and grew up in Georgetown. Loving father to Sidney, Beverly, Valerie, and Barry. US Army veteran. Worked for Buttercrust Bakery 9 years, and McKee Bakery for 32 years, Austin ISD, as a bus driver for 12 years. Deacon at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Member of the Kiwanis club. Was Santa Claus for Shady Hollow Christmas parties for several years. Worked with the American Board of Mission to the Jews. Always cared for children through adoption, fostering and exchange students. Dad was a loving man that enjoyed collecting antiques, nature, model cars, gardening, fishing, fixing stuff, traveling, helping people at soup kitchens, and in disasters. He loved driving the kids to school and worked till he was 78. He started his journey in life quitting school after the 9th grade and got a job to support his family at age 15. With a 9th grade education he worked hard and had a very good life style. Married 3 times, to Celia Moore for 32 years, the mother of his children and to Peggy Nichols for 13. He has left his mark in this world as a compassionate man that would always help someone in need. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. A service to celebrate his life and faith will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4600 Manchaca Rd., in Austin. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery outside of Andice, TX. Gifts in his memory can be donated to Hospice Austin. (Died Apr. 9, 2012)
