MIRI, Genevieve Karkoska Wolf “Genie”

Genevieve “Genie” Karkoska Wolf Miri went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 26, 2010. Service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at S.S. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas. Interment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery of Corn Hill in Jarrell, Texas with a luncheon following at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Parish Hall. Rosary and visitation will be held Friday, July 30, 2010. Visitation at 6:00 p.m., Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at S.S. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas. Memorials may be made to North Texas ASPCA or the American Cancer Society to support cancer research. Donation notifications can be directed to Susan Karkoska Medina, P.O. Box 470959, Fort Worth, TX 76147. Born in Jarrell, Texas on Jan 2, 1927 in her parent’s farmhouse, Genie was raised in Granger, Texas and attended school through the 8th grade. Despite her level of formal education, Genie achieved tremendous success during her lifetime. Genie helped many families, children, seniors and others in need throughout her life and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Her nickname in her hometown was “the Granger Angel,” and indeed she was. Genie is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Karkoska, and brothers Bernard, Jerry, Johnny Jr., Clement “Red,” Ted, Joe, Frank and nephew John Pershing Karkoska. Survivors include brother Paul Karkoska, wife Gloria, their children David, wife Sandra; Marshall, wife Tina; Mike, wife Phon; Dennis, wife Tina; and Melinda, husband Duane. Other survivors include her niece Susan Karkoska Medina, husband Victor; nephew John Karkoska, wife Theresa, nephew Harry Karkoska, wife Trish, niece Cathy Karkoska Basile, husband Mark, nieces Cynthia Karkoska, Sheree Kristinek, husband Frank; nephew Leonard Marek, wife Doris; sisters-in-law Sue Karkoska Brown, husband Ron, Dolores Karkoska, Louren Karkoska, Inez Karkoska; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and people all around the world who considered Genie family. Genie’s family would also like to thank the caregivers and staff of Stonegate Nursing Facility and Community Hospice of Tarrant County for their wonderful care, patience, love and support.
