Mark Scott Salter, 51, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2013.
Mark was a loving husband, wonderful friend and mentor throughout his life. Mark was an avid sports enthusiast, always enjoying football and a good round of golf with friends.
Mark was born in Harlingen, Texas, on October 23, 1961 and graduated from La Feria High School in 1980. He attended Southwest Texas State University and earned Degrees in Athletic Training and Secondary Teaching in 1985. While at college, Mark was an athletic trainer for the 1981 and 1982 National Championship football teams. Upon graduation, Mark worked as an athletic trainer and teacher at several Texas high schools including Canyon High School, New Braunfels; Consolidated High School, College Station; Churchill High School, San Antonio; The Woodlands High School, The Woodlands and Klein Collins High School, Klein. From 2008 until his passing, Mark worked at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville. Mark’s lasting legacy is the impact he made with the students he reached over a 29 year career; he thoroughly enjoyed working with and mentoring his student-athletes, watching them win countless awards and championships, and most importantly, taking joy in seeing them grow into successful young adults.
A “Celebration of Life” Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Celebration Church in Georgetown, Texas; with a gathering to follow at the South Fork Ranch at Mustang Creek in Hutto, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the “Donations for Mark Salter” fund at the Wells Fargo Bank in Round Rock.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Annie Louise Salter and brother, Woody Salter. Mark is survived by father, Calvin Salter, of Livingston, Texas; wife, Diana Tuyet-Linh Salter, of Round Rock, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Shannon Salter, of Round Rock, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bill Morrow, of Austin, Texas; Christine and Keith Phillips, niece and husband; Kelly and Dennis Goodson, niece and husband; nieces: Madeline Salter and Naomi Operhall; and nephews: Carson Salter, Wolffe and Felix Bonewell, Elijah Operhall, Chandler and Dawson Phillips, Justin and Cody Upshaw.
