SAMUELSON, Carl

Carl Samuelson passed away peacefully on October 20, 2013 surrounded by his family at the Samuelson homestead where he was born and grew up.

Carl was born in the Type community on May 10, 1924. As a child he worked on the family farm alongside his siblings and parents. During that time he learned the value of hard work, laughter and love with family, and strong Christian values. Throughout his life Carl was always close to Gods handiwork, whether it was crops, livestock, rainfall, bountiful hay, and beautiful pastureland.

Carl served his country in Korea 1945 -46. He returned home after serving and began farming in the Type community. Carl met his future wife Wilma Nell Helge after returning to the States. They were married on January 17, 1950. Carl and Nell had two children, Brent and Vickie.

Carl was a lifelong and faithful member of the Evangelical Free Church always serving his Lord and Savior. He was always willing to serve and work for his church.

He successfully farmed and ranched during his lifetime to provide for his family. Carl was the manager of the Manville Water Supply Corporation during its early years and he worked tirelessly to make it become a successful operation.

Carl is remembered by many as a good friend, generous and caring. His memory will always be cherished by his granddaughter and nieces and nephews as the fun-loving and playful grandfather and uncle. Carl is remembered by his children as a wonderful father who taught them the value of hard work and Christian faith. His favorite pastimes with family and friends were fishing and playing dominoes.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Samuelson, sisters Marie Dannelly, Ruth Schroeder, and Birdie Towery.
