Mrs. L. C. Tomlinson, Long Time Florence Citizen Dies

Despite the disagreable weather, a large gathering of sorrowful relatives and friends assembled at the Church of Christ Wednesday afternoon at three O’clock to pay the last tribute of respect Mrs. L. C. Tomlinson,: one of the most respected and beloved citizens of Florence, whose death occurred at her home here, Tuesday evening at eight o’clock.

Sarah Frances Moore was born in Mississippi, November 30, 1849; died in Florence, October 6, 1936. With her parents she came to Texas in 1867 and has lived in this community continously since that time.

In July of 1868, she was married to L. C. Tomlinson of Florence who died in 1919. To this union three children were born, two daughters and a son. The son, W. J. Tomlineon, preceded her in death by five years. The surviving children are Miss Mary Tomlinson, at home, and Mrs. Marinda Jackson, of Lometa. Other survivors are two grand children and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Tomlinson became a christian in 1869, uniting with the Florence Church of Christ. and in the sixty-seven yeari since has truly lived up to her professions of faith, in her daily life. Always kind and thoughtful of others she made friends by being a friend. Although she had been in failing health for a number of years her interest in her friends never failed, and her death means sorrow for many.

Services at the Church of Christ at three o’clock Wedneesday afternoon were conducted by Rev. John C. Taylor, of Georgetown, after which interment was made in the Tomlinson Cemetery west of Florence.
