THOMAS, David Matthew, Sr.

David Matthew Thomas, Sr., passed away into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on April 6, 2017 after years of suffering from diabetes. He was born on November 8, 1934, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lois Roberts Thomas of Leander, his mother Margaret Patterson Shaffer of Austin; his sister Patricia Thomas of Leander; his son David M. Thomas, Jr., of Florida; his daughter Janice Wakefield of Trinidad, Texas, and his grandson Adam Knox of Leander. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Murlene Parker Thomas of Round Rock; his children Richard Thomas of Austin, Judy Thomas Veach and her husband Cecil of Leander; Jackie Doyle of Lockhart, Greg Wakefield of Trinidad, Texas and sister Geraldine Thomas Lozano and husband Glenn of Buda, Texas, as well as 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

David retired after many years at the Coca Cola Company. He dedicated his life to youth sports as a coach for Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball. David was a lover of many sports, particularly the Texas Longhorns.

Public visitation will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home in Leander, Texas from 12:00 to 2:30 pm. Interment service will be held at Bagdad Cemetery at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Central Texas Office of the American Diabetes Association.
