Virgil Christine Hunt

Virgil Christine Hunt, age 86, died peacefully in her sleep May 25, 2004. She was born on Christmas Day, 1917 to William Clayton Hunt and Vurry Vickers Hunt. Our “Aunt Tudie” was born in a log cabin in Williamson County on land that had been homesteaded by her grandfather, John Wesley Hunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Della Bea Rosson, Rena Lambright, and Elsie Hunt; brothers Henschen, Julius and William Eugene.

She is survived by two sisters, Nelia “Chick” Rosson Taft, Texas and Ida (Carl) Boltz of Chula Vista, Ca. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and 34 great nieces and nephews.

Christine belonged to several organizations. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Taft, Texas, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was active in the Taft Woman’s Club. Christine was employed by several local businesses through the years, including Dr. Y.S. Jenkins, Tom Redding, and Corpus Christi Cotton Compress. She retired from Westinghouse/Cuttler-Hammer Co. She will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends. She loved her family and was always there for them. She was happy, she was special, she was fun, and she was our “Tudie.”

Funeral service for Miss. Hunt will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday May 28, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Taft, Texas. Burial will follow at Taft Memorial Park Cemetery in Taft, Texas.
