MACHU, Vlasta Kovar
Vlasta Kovar Machu, 85, of Granger, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at her residence. Mrs. Machu was born in Granger, Texas on September 10, 1917, the daughter of Frances (Volcik) and Tom Kovar. On November 19, 1935, she was married to Albin Edmund Machu. A lifetime resident of Granger, Vlasta was a member of the Granger Brethren Church, Granger Brethren Christian Sisters, the Mutual Aid Society, and had been a longtime member of SPJST. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include her six daughters and their husbands, Rubie and Leslie Loessin of Granger, Marie Ann and Henry Ripple Jr., of Taylor, Angeline and James Malicoat of Taylor, Sharon and T.J. Mikulec of Cameron, Debbie and Larry Haag of Taylor, Sandy and Clement J. Strmiska of Bartlett; three sons and their wives, Albin F. and Elaine Machu of Taylor, Marvin and Barbara Machu of Thorndale, Eugene and Rose Machu of Taylor; sister, Evelyn Seigmund of Taylor; 20 grandchildren, Terry Loessin, Kelly and Michelle Loessin, Sherill and Rex Engelhardt, Trey andHeather Ripple, Shelly and Doug Wieqand, Monica and Adam Mehevec, Tammy Machu, Sheri Machu, Darrell and Sandy Malicoat, Derrick Malicoat, Tracy Machu, Michael Machu, Nancy Mikulec, Kendra Mikulec, Christie and Brandon Johnson, Lisa and Matt Whisenant, Clement Lee Strmiska, Holly Strmiska, Rachel Strmiska, and Ben Strmiska; and and great- grandchildren, Trevor and Lauren Loessin, Tanner and Tahni Engelhardt, Mason Wiegand, Trent Shumate, Jazmine and Devin Malicoat, and Kolton Whisenant. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Condra Funeral Home. A Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, in Condra Memorial Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at Granger Brethren Church with the Rev. Albert Michalik, Rev. James Hejl and Rev. Gordon Hejl officiating. Burial will follow in Machu Cemetery, Granger. Honorary pallbearers are Rex Engelhardt, Adam Mehevec, Doug Weigand, Brandon Johnson, Matt Whisenant, and Terry Loessin who will also be the organist for the funeral service. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Kelly Loessin, Trey Ripple, Michael Machu, Clement Lee Strmiska, Darrell Malicoat and Derrick Malicoat. MACHU, Greg
Gregory Keith Machu, age 43, follower of Jesus Christ, loyal husband, father, son, brother, and uncle died early Sunday morning, December 31, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 13, 1963, in Austin, Texas to Darwin and Nancy Bryan Machu. He graduated from Lanier High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Business Administration from St. Edwards University. On July 27, 1996, he was united in marriage to Dawn Mynar at the Bryan/College Station Brethren Church. On May 11, 2000, God blessed Greg and Dawn with a wonderful son, Colton, and in 2004 the family moved to Georgetown, Texas. His innate knowledge of computers allowed him to excel as a software support team leader with Texas Mutual Insurance Company. A member of San Gabriel Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, he appreciated the compassion of this church family and enjoyed their men’s group. His love of the outdoors was heightened by many years at summer church camp, both as a camper and as a counselor. He enjoyed singing and used his full, wonderful voice to sing praises to his creator God. Greg was a people person who never sought the spotlight for himself. He would start a conversation with anyone, believing that all had unique qualities that were worth his time and attention. Greg was a rabid Texas Longhorn fan, who loved going to the football games with his family. Above all, he loved his wife and son and took great pride in providing for them. Greg is survived by his wife, Dawn, and his son Colton; his parents Darwin and Nancy of Round Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Bobby Roten of Round Rock; two nieces, Megan and Mackenzie Roten of Round Rock; godparents, Uncle Daniel and Aunt Sadie Blaha of Taylor; parents-in-law, Leroy and Pat Mynar of Bryan; sister-in-law, Shannon Mynar, and her fiancĂ©, Patrick Wallace of Richmond; best friend, Mark Olsen of Taylor.
